City of Stockton - Chief of Police

Currently the 13th largest city in California, Stockton is located 60 miles
east of the San Francisco Bay Area and 45 miles south of Sacramento. With a
population of approximately 290,000, the city is a dynamic, multi-ethnic,
and multi-cultural urban community.

The Stockton Police Department has a staff of nearly 400 sworn and 200
non-sworn employees and volunteers, and an annual budget of $100 million.
Community policing, crime prevention, and drug and gang intervention
measures are departmental priorities. The ideal candidate will have proven
leadership ability, a history of developing and maintaining strong
relationships, experience in implementing a wide range of innovative
community policing initiatives, have a familiarity in working with a diverse
community, and a commitment to public service. Requires five years executive
or command experience in a municipal or county law enforcement agency, and
possess the equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university.
